I have some DIY video tutorial here if anyone is interested in learning more about the CAD/CAM process.
These are beginner classes with a gentle introduction. Here is the link to the playlist with more coming soon!

Definitely an awesome video, look forward to seeing the rest.

Maybe u can help me out with a question I have, and possibly make a video from it. I'd like to make an intake manifold spacer for my car maybe out of acrylic or thin aluminum. My question is, is it possible to scan the gasket, trace it to a vector using software and cut it out to the correct size?

    Here's an example:

You can see the gasket I'd be scanning on the left and what I want to make in red on the right. That's for the throttle body, the one for the intake manifold while still be a flat shape has more contours.

Scanning is really iffy for stuff like that, you'll find that you will spend heaps of time measuring and altering. I'd recommend simply create it from scratch using geomteric shapes. It'll be spot on and most likely far quicker than scanning and then trying to fix the dimensions afterwards.

    Thanks for the reply.

Yes, the method you are describing to copy part shapes is very common.
I used this technique to get a rough shape of the Stratocaster 57 I showed in the first video.

I will put your request into my to do pile so make sure to subscribe
