I am finally moving on whit a build.
I decided to re do every thing right this time , last time there was no time, so I ended up just throwing every thing on the mill to make some money.

here are some pictures of my progress

    didnt like this belt drive

so i vent whit direct drive mount and goth rid of a loth of backlash

bought some more ball nuts and added them on my X and Y axis and that helped a loth whit my back lash

sand blasted it and painted it black and mounted on the back

    then started adding the electronic

still missing a VFD and a door off course and a few small details

    oh jeah almost forgot,

the mill came in blue and I hate the blue color , don't know exactly why but i always didn't like the blue , even when i buy black jeans that are supose to be black and I get out of the store and in the sun you see it is in fact very dark blue i throw them away or return them.
So I tested a black green combination and I think Ill ad some gray as well .

then the side panels and lower coolant tray

and this is the front piece which is not bolted of fastened in any way so it can be detached quickly for chip cleaning

The pictures suck i know , I have changed my filming gear , or to be more precise my phone , I had an Iphone 4 which took pretty god pictures and decided to go whit a Samsung S4 which spouse to have a better camera ,but the pictures suck , the phone is weary good but the image processing is bad , or at least not as god as an poor old iphone 4 , Samsung is extremely picky about the light conditions . I don't fell good spending that much money and getting an downgrade in camera performance, but hej it surpasses Iphone in every other way and the android is just better , I fell free at last muhahah

bought a new pump, it is a cheap pump from a hardware store but it is quite powerful i am getting rely good pressure i am guessing next I am going to need a bigger coolant tank.

this is where the old pump was located

    my custom made coolant filter

this is always a god idea on a mill if possible

i am getting some serious pressure so i had to instal a valve on my coolant supply

i have made a stainless way covers for the main column based on a video I have seen on the net some time ago , sorry I don't remember who was the author but it went something like this , you'll get it from the pictures.

first I have made solidworks model to verify if it is going to work and what would be the right dimensions and will anything interfere whit the motion of the mill especially in the extremes of the axis.

ok I know it is not a rocket science but I am happy whit the way it turned out. It looks simple but it took me a bit of planing an calculating to get every thing right and get it functional.

ok this was plasma cutted and it is 0.6 mm stainless and that didnt go smoth , THC was creating a problem on that thin sheet. It would been better if I had a ticker sheet on hand, 0.6 is a bit thin so the covers warp a bit and don't stay flush.

i don't know if it is clear from this picture but this part took some planing , this is my solution for attaching the cover to a saddle and getting a perfect seal so the coolant wouldn't spill on the z axis ballscrew and the motor.
