I have a brand new machine (1100) and I've only put about 6 hours on it. I've been having some strange issues with my ATC. After the first setup, everything was perfect. Now I get a lot of stutter on retraction. I have the rails well lubricated, but it keeps dragging more and more and I've even had failure to retracts. Any ideas there? Second issue, after doing a tool change and jogging, the e-stop throws. It's usually during a Z movement. It makes some whining noises then initiates the e-stop. Anyone run into this? I'm guessing it has something to do with the tool tray retract. I have even pushed it to the rear to ensure it's fully retracted too. Thanks in advance

What psi are you running and are you sure you have the air valves set correctly. Can you take video?

If this is a new machine I'd call Tormach right off the bat. I've had nothing but excellent help from Andy and Daniel with my ATC. Yes, I know it's the weekend - every time I have problems with my mill it is 3:00 pm PST on Friday (5:00 Milwaukee time).


I've had my ATC since March 2011 and my biggest problem was the fixed magnet for initial indexing came loose. It took a while to get the alignment perfect and the bolts on the frame tight enough but that was all operator issues. I also had to increase my minimum shop air pressure from 90 psi to 100 psi which was more of a PDB issue.

I upped my pressure to 105psi and it's not had an issue. I think the estop fault was caused by the changer not getting back quickly.

Yep, also the valve setting are a large part in it. Glad you got it.
