    Poor circular cutting issue

    Hello,

My first attempt to cut a circle om my newly converted cnc mill and the results is more an odd shaped triangle!

The backlash is limited. I have no clue what can cause this. Any ideas?

    I use Mach 3 running a CamBam generated G-code.

    Many thanks!

That's not backlash, or your steps per unit travel. Are you using a g02 or g03 for your circle? Seems, to me, like a code issue otherwise you would at least have a weird shaped square.

The code is made by CamBam. It's not a straightforward g02 or g03 so I'll have a go on testing that instead and see what happens.
    Thanks.

What does the toolpath look like in Mach3? Can you post a screenshot of the toolpath and the code?

You may want to try cutting a circle using one of the Mach3 wizards and see how it turns out.

This turned out to be a little story.
I installed Mach 3 on my CAD/CAM station to verify the toolpath. All looked well there.
The circle consisted of three arcs but was round in shape.

Down at the mill, the same program looked drastically different. The cut shape suddenly made sense.
    Same version of Mach3!

I reverted back to original settings. Still twisted shape on the toolpath.

I was not until I skipped the original profile I had set up for the mill and started the original Mach3 program directly, that everything made sense again. There is a bug somwhere in Mach3 apparently.

    Interesting.
Well, thanks for all the help. I'm back on track again.

Not likely a bug, more likely an error in your configuration. I would look first at whether you have IJ set a relative or absolute for arcs in general config.
