I'm having a little issue figuring out the best strategy to use on this part. Basically I want to face the ledge top surface (highlighted in blue) and leave enough to come back and finish the small step (wall) to the left. Any suggestions are helpful.

When I use a simple contour with multiple passes it works okay except when I go to cut the left island it wants to to cut into the right island. Is there any way you can have it only extend beyond a selected boundary?

Sometimes you need to create additional geometry to use as your toolpaths. In this instance, you may want to create the lines parallel to the main wall that you want to cut but shorten them at the end so they don't gouge the other island.

You can also copy the edges to a different level, offset them a little so you cut over the edge but leave the wall line where it is then just trim the offset edges to the wall edge and use a pocket routine.

There are a few different ways to get this and they will only take a minute to accomplish.

Sorry about that I had a brain fart. I used the contour offset and then pocketed it out. I've actually done this before but forgot my method. All is good. Thanks
