Cheap hobby servo for small motors

Is there any cheap hobby boards for little servo motors? I'm trying to build an automatic cigarette stuffing machine, and I found a mechanism at a flea-market, but it has gearhead servo motors. I'm used to using stepper drivers and it would be too much work to convert it to steppers.

Are they DC, AC type of feedback if any?

Its just a dc motor with a quadrature encoder. 2 lines power the motor, and 4 for the encoder. Encoder power+,ground, and the two bit signals.

A conversion would be dependent on the ratio and if the mount and if the shaft size was fairly standard and was not splined etc?
I assume you want step/dir, Mach?
There are quite a few servo controllers out there that should be capable.
I would keep the servo's, but then I'm biased!

Its not a milling machine or 3x mill or lathe. I want step/dir inputs - for these servo d/c motors with quad encoders that use probably 1 amp of power.

It would appear you just want point to point control? is this a preset repetitive application, IOW, once programmed does not need any positioning or program info from an operator?
What operator interface or controller do you intend using?
