    Emco Compact 5 Retrofit

I have been doing a retrofit for my school on their broken compact 5. My current issue is finding a way to power and control the stock spindle motor. Any suggestions on how to control the spindle and what electronics i need. The stepper driver is a gecko g540 and I am using mach3. Also does anyone know how to do the macro for the tool turret?

Here is a pic of the machine currently.

I rebuilt my machine, Daniel, about 12months ago. I used a DC power drive from Parker drives, here in the UK. This takes the spindle on/off signal from your breakout board and also a 0-10v speed control signal. Works well. I have developed a macro for the tool turret, if you want it.

i'm not Using Mach3 Though.. i use EdingCNC instead..

i've found that the Emco 5 Compact CNC is very accurate.. at the moment i'm producing Titanium watchcases.. 2 weeks ago i made the casebacks.. tolerances of 0.01mm.. i only had to adjust the diameter twice in a series of 52 parts.. all done with only one tool.. ain't that something?
