Mitsubishi Meldas 64 - out of memory

    Hi,

I have managed to send program to Meldas 64 using rs232-usb device.
However, I have discovered that there are only 17500 characters in memory for the program. Only 17 kB! Even smallest of my programs is bigger than this.

    So my question:
    1. Is this the right amount of memory for Meldas 64, or did something broke, or something is misconfigured?
    2. Can I expand the memory? Buy some memory module?

Meanwhile I tried to perform drip feed, but with no luck - most programs seem to ignore XON/XOFF (or machine does not send it?). One program (CNC File Transfer) managed to detect machine buffer overflow, and send some data only after few instructions were processed, but some block were missing.

Well one thing I know for sure is that that you are supposed to have waaay more memory than that, don't know if your memory is just broken but I don't think there are params for memory size so that's unlikely to be configuration.

    That's sad information.
I have taken a look at the internal circuits but I cannot locate anything that resemble a memory module (in order to fetch and replace the part).

You know what? You have everything backed up? Maybe that formatting memory would do the trick (maybe your memory's corruption may be corrected by formatting).
Here are the instruction manual for backing up data on Magic 64, gimme your email if you want me to send you the doc. Make sure you know the procedures to load everything back in your control, I don't have that particular document, you may ask meau for one.

Edit: Just noticed that this document shows F2 for restore. Should do the trick. Cheers.

    Thank you for instruction.

However, how can I do this backup? My Meldas don't have keybord, hard drive, nor floppy drive.

But more important question: how to format the memory?

I'm not sure what control you have if it's not M64... is it a 60 or 600 series control?
I have explanations for 50 and 500 controls, I think it's pretty similar. As I told you PM me your email if you want the docs with all the pictures on it.

    Cheers.

The machine is Way Shine VEM-15 Mitsubishi Meldas 64. The button names and settings numbers for 50 control looks familiar to me.
I've PM-ed you my email. Does manual contain format procedure as well?
