    PC PSU for tb6560

    hi everyone,

i have a controller board tb6560 -->CNC TB6560 in Electric Stepper Controls and Drives | eBay - but i dont have a 24v power supply for nema23, do you think i can use a ATX power supply to power the 3 stepper motors? can i use -12v[blue wire] combined with the +12v[yellow wires] =24v for this controller?

    many thsnkd in advance

Although I have not tried this, I doubt that it would work properly.

The -12V rail of typical ATX power supplies is rated for 1 amp or less, whereas you will probably need a higher current than that for your TB6560. You would also need to be certain that your PC power supply ground was isolated from the ground used by your driver board.

An alternative that some folks have tried is to put two PC 12V power supplies in series (using the +12V rails and gnd connections only), however again you would need to be certain that your(top) power supply ground was isolated from your driver board ground, and the ground of the "top" power supply must also be isolated from your (bottom power supply) common ground (because the ground pin of the "top" power supply would actually be sitting at +12V above ground).
