A little fuzzy on edge chamfering...

So, if I want to chamfer an outside edge of a part and do it in cam, how does that work on the machine? Do I set my tool height at the tip of the tool, and some how Mach knows how far down to run the tool and how far to offset it? Not sure how that whole chain works and how any of it knows how deep to set the tool....

(I Use SolidWorks and do model the chamfer there, HSM Express, and of course Mach3 on the Tormach)

    TIA...

Does HSM Express have similar adjustments?
Maybe this screen cap will help explain?

When you select a chamfer tool in HSMXpress/works on a 2d contour operation, a "chamfer" checkbox will appear on the operations settings page, which will ask you for a chamfer width (which, if the chamfer is modeled, you'll leave at zero) and an "offset", which offsets in both x/y & z. Its simplest to use "in computer" compensation for th
