    Nose radius compensation

Hi all. Does anyone know how it behaves exactly?
Is there a difference in the final contour when using a toolpath with G41/42 for circular interpolation and that same path already compensated by a cam program for the same contour or there is a deviation of a radial contour when G41/42 are not being read by the machine
How does Okuma behave on this?

yes, there are some differences. When you use OSP part programing, the operator can make a lot of adjustments on the basis of real part measurement. Using CAM'ed part program, without G41/42 code you can't correct tip radius in case. Okuma behavior is simple: Axis coordinate is recalculated according tool tip tangential approach to programmed part shape. You can attenuate programmed shape and tool tip radius on the fly.

I prefer paths with 'cutter comp' in the lathe, they can produce a less faceted, more accurate, fished workpiece than cam software with 'computer comp'. They allow the operator to change radius of the insert, (say for chatter abatement), with out editing the program. In the end, you can move the tool in the exact same path by using cutter comp, or computer comp, but if the insert being used is not the exact radius of the insert programed while using 'computer comp' the chamfers and radii, will deviate from engineering,
