    Mori Seiki ZT1500Y controller MSX-501

    Hi Everyone!

This machine is capable of using M440-M449 as external outputs. The electrical diagram shows four outputs for each open M code. Ports one and two work as a switch. Port three appears to be a signal wire. Port four is 24V DC out. When testing these ports the machine will always have the 24V out. However, when activating the M code in MDI mode the signal will not reach the corresponding relay. If you can give any information about these M code options and how they work or correct the description given please do.

You need to double check that the D-Data is set to use those M-codes, Mori will usually have an upper and lower M-code set. M440 would be the upper set, and something like M20 would be the lower set. I's usually labeled in the electrical prints though. The 24VDC out all the time would be normal of coarse, thats the 24 VDC to go through your finish signal back to your signal wire.

Where is the D-Data located and how do you check it? The upper M-code set is M440-M444 The lower set is M445-M449.

Will port three make the switch (ports one and two) stay closed until the it receives a signal?

    Thanks,
    Jim

Usually the relay contacts are open till the m code is commanded. If you have the extra Mcode option, sometimes you can switch the contacts to the normally closed side of the relay. If not, you will need to add a relay. The signal is for finish signal of the M-code completion. If you don't use the finish signal, when you command the M-code, the machine will hold at that m-code and not continue, eventually getting a finish time over alarm.
D-Data descriptions are in the back of the ladder diagram. There is a trick to changing them, and if done incorrectly will temporarily brick the machine.

Do you have the ladder diagram for this machine? Or can you tell me what parts need changed?

all the machines shipped with the ladder diagram from the factory. Without prints, can't tell you what you need. It's all in the electrical prints.
