I am quoting a screw made from Greek Ascoloy. The print calls out heat treat to HRc 42-50. I have run other stainless steels in the heat treated condition with generally very good results. This, however, is my first foray into Greek Ascoloy. Wondering if anyone in the community has any experience machining 418 in the heat treated condition. Basically, I am trying to drop the part off complete. If I heat treat after machining, there are a couple diameters I will have to grind. Any thoughts?
