How to tell if your servo is digital or analog

    Hello all,

Is there an easy way to tell if you servo is digital or analog.

Its on a 86 MG cut table.

    Thanks,

Do you mean digital or step/dir?
What make/model drives are they using? if an MG systems they used analogue to some extent.

Do you have the current make/model of drive?
Older table will most likely be DC servo's. Some were A-M-C analogue.

I am not able to find any information on the drives. I did take a few pictures if you might be able to get me on the right path, and yes they are dc. Attachment 188094Attachment 188096Attachment 188098

Wow, those are some old dc drives. Confirm with Al, but those are analog.

You can replace them with A-M-C, Copley Controls, AeroTech if you wish, these take tach feedback if using the same MG control.
    Yes they are analogue.
It may take a bit of re-engineering for those old amps, may be better to upgrade with a Burny unit?

The new Burny unit they are saying to leave the drives and servos and go to a Burny 10 witch is ($15,000) trying to see if there are any other ideas.

What would be a better program Burny 10 or Mach3 or is there any other controllers i should be looking at?

Not sure how good the drives are or how accurate the machine movement is.

Do you have the present schematic of the drive interface?
