    Question Pendulum powered flywheel

    Attachment 188280

    Hi, I started a project that will use a pendulum to drive a flywheel. I am using an over run clutch between the pendulum and flywheel so the flywheel will only rotate in one direction. The pendulum only adds power the flywheel when it swings in one direction. I am searching for a method or design that will allow the pendulum to add power to the flywheel as it swings in both directions. Suggestions welcome.

    Did you try adding a gear between pendulum axis and the clutch?

    Hi, sounds like a good idea. I am not sure how to do it, suggestions welcome. I am working on a rail system that will shift the weights on the flywheel. Then one side of the flywheel will always be heavier and aid in rotation.

    Once the weights are able to shift on the flywheel, then the power to drive the generator will come from the flywheel and the pendulum will just keep the RPM constant and keep the flywheel moving. I plan to use a solenoid to keep the pendulum power. I completed a wind turbine project but no wind no power and gravity is always on. Thanks for showing interest. Suggestions are always welcome.

    looking at the video from 1st post
    you have something like this
    = axis
    ]clutch
    =====]

    what if you extend the axis trough the clutch add a planetary gearing that switches direction of rotation and connect another clutch
    = axis
    ] clutch
    b bearings to support axis - optional?
    p planetary gearing

    =====]==p==]=
    ====b=]=b=p=b=]=b

    regards
    Bart
