    Recommend a replacement spindle motor for G0704

    Hi,

    I'm not too sharp on how to choose the best motor for my needs. So I need some guidance and help in choosing.

    I am thinking about replacing the motor on my G0704 with something that has better low speed power than the stock motor. I would like to be able get down to around 100rpms with enough power to hopefully run some 3" horizontal milling cutters in mild steel. Perhaps I'm asking a bit much.

    I have been looking at either a 3/4hp brushless DC motor @ 3450rpm. Or a 1hp 3ph/VFD @ 3600rpm. The DC motor is of course, a cheaper solution and the 3ph more power for more money.

    Which way to go?

    1100w from Weiss or similar and a KBIC125 or a treadmill motor.
    A lazy man does it twice.
