Always Starts with Jog Mode = Step

Hi, recently when Mach3 starts it is always with jog mode in STEP. I would much prefer it if it started in CONT. From what I have read ensuring that Config / General Config / Persistent Jog Mode is selected will make Mach3 start up in the same Jog Mode as it was in when it shut down. I've played around with this setting and it seems to do nothing. Either my understanding of the setting is wrong, or there is something else at play here.

    Can anyone help?

Make sure Persistent jog Mode is checked, then close and restart Mach3.
It should then remember your setting, unless you have something else changing it.
    It works fine for me.

Thanks for the (very) quick answer Gerry!

At least my understanding of what SHOULD happen is correct, it just doesn't happen. It seems as though Mach3 is either ignoring or not seeing the Persistent Jog flag. Any suggestions as to what else could change it, or where Mach3 stores its settings on shutdown?

All settings are stored in an .xml file with the name of your profile. Profilename.xml

It is possible for these .xml files to become corrupt somehow, and cause strange things to happen.

On my desktop install here, I can set Mach3 to continuous, and close and restart, and it will still be in continuous mode. I can then change it to step, close and restart, and it will be in Step mode.

Are you using a Shuttle or other jogging device that uses a plugin?

Thanks Gerry. I had discovered the .xml file and have done some investigation.

On shutdown the .xml file correctly records the state of:

    JogPersist
    JogStep
    JogMode

On startup Mach3 reflects the .xml settings of:

    JogPersist
    JogStep

    But not JogMode.

I do have a handheld device with plugin, will go look at that possibility.

I'll try a reinstall on another machine, with and without the plugin and then try bringing the current .xml file across in case there was a problem with it

    Good Call Gerry

I removed the ShuttlePro.dll, which came with the XHC HB04 Controller, from the plugin folder and all is now good. Guess any trouble shooting now is beyond my skill level.

    Thanks for the help
