Advice please regarding best combination stepper motor and driver

    Good day

I am 70 and after a cardiac arrest followed by a long coma and some brain problems I would like to do something useful to spend my days and since I worked long ago with CNC I am trying to build a CNC again but I like to build the CNC and also the electronics myself because I sit in a wheelchair and we live remote in a wheelchair unfriendly country so better to try to build all myself. I will not make a lot of products but I purchased a Chinese LEAD-CNC with a working space of 1500 x 1000 mm and like to use GRBL as the system for the electronics. The Chinese seller told me that the Nema 23 stepper motors that I plan to use are when I use the TB6600 stepper drivers are not a good combination I will as a start use the CNC to mill wood at a maximum of 60 mm and brass and aluminum to a maximum depth of only 3 mm but because my son is also interested in the CNC I want to have the possibility to make it expandable to a higher Z gantry I want an affordable combi regarding the Nema 23 2.5 A and the stepper motor driver but I am not sure what a good combination is.
Advise and suggestions on this would be highly appreciated

Thank you for reading this and have a good weekend

Have you bought all that electronic stuff already, or are you asking us what to buy? If it's the latter, I'd advise against those drivers; there are long threads here about how badly they work (Here's one: https://www.cnczone.com/forums/stepp...ced-video.html ). Also, it's not likely that you'll find any NEMA 23 motors that will run well on 12v current; their inductance will require more voltage (at least twice that) to run with any speed (which you need if you're going to cut wood and not just burn it). Your Chinese seller was telling the truth; this system is not going to work well, if at all. Look for motors with as low an inductance as possible; 32 times the square root of the inductance in mH gives you the right voltage to supply for optimal performance at speed. Get drivers that can handle that much power with a little room to spare.

    What you reckon?
    Something like this:

    This:

A couple of these (1 per 2 motors) and a small 5v one:

Thank you for tour answer I not yet purchased any electronics because I simple not have the knowledge. I will download the information and read it. Living close to China and having worked there it is easy and to buy there also since I still have friends there. Happy with your reaction and with the info I have now I also can search on YouTube for possible building instructions to build a breakout box :-)

    Have a good weekend
