    Multicam 3000 - Motor Fault 17

    Hi,

I hope someone can help. I have the following fault come up on my multicam controller after having two problems in quick succession (going too deep too quickly with a bit until the motor drives failed and then moving the gantry when something was in the way which also made the motor drives fail!).

    Motor Fault 17
    XA
    Blink Count 6
    RMS Shutdown
Motor torque reqmt too high. Confirm feed OK for bit. Chk for mech bind/drag
exceeded. confirm feed OK for bit. chk for low incomingvoltage.
    XB
    Blink Count 5
    Tracking shutdown
    Tracking Limit

    What do I do?

    Well James
It looks like you have had a crash and the errors which are the blink count codes 5/6 are due to a physical issues that are keeping the machine from moving freely, in your case it is the spindle going into the table.
    1. Reboot your machine
    2. Re-home your machine
Now if all goes well the machine should move back to home position, but if the XA/XB are askew of each other, then you will have to re-square the X-axis. If you need to procedure, I can post the sequence here.

Thanks - I had tried the good old reboot but it kept moving for a couple of minutes and then stopping and coming back with the same error. After about 3 tries it seemed to work OK and I've been able to cut a couple of sheets with it. I'm still worried it could go at any time though. It would be great if you could post the re-square procedure and then at least I'll know how!
