    Optomizing Gcode

After I draw on Qcad then take over to Kcam to convert it to Gcode I end up with a lot of useless operations. Like jumping all over the medium I'm cutting ( not in order), not to mention going up and down over one point several times. There also seems to be random cuts that are unintentionally made. I have tried to use a Gcode optimizer, to no avail. I tried to use PCB Gcode to clean it up but it requires all X,Y and Z statements to be on separate line numbers. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks Gary

    Gary,

I'm new to KCam myself, but have found that KCam will set up a cut path that follows the sequence that you drew the segments in. I redraw objects in the order I want them cut to optimize the path. There may be a better way, but I am too new to KCam. and have not found it. I use TurboCad 18 pro.
Oftentimes I will re-arrange the G-code by hand after it is generated. I also use the find and replace(the binoculars) to change the cut depths.
    I hope that helps,

    Randy
