Hi,
I'm trying to change the B-axis limits of a 5-axis CNC mill run by Sinumerik 840D from -5° to 110° to -110° to 110°. The machine hardware is capable of this, but at present the machine is limited to -5 due to a tool probe mounted there. The probe will be removed as it's not needed any more (replaced by an external too setting machine).

I know how to move the hardware limit switches. I was able to locate two parameters in the control controlling software limits, but there mus be more as just changing these results in a bunch off error messages on power up, including some checksum errors somehow related to the b-axis. I guess the problem is related to 'safety integrated'.

Dose anyone have an idea how to properly change the axis limits?

Your machine is about identical to mine, I have a DMG DMU 50 in the 3+2 config (no full 5 axis only positional). I guess i would call the machine tool company and see if that is even possible. Maybe pull up some prints of the machine and see if there is something mechanical that would keep from swinging the B axis that way. Also why do you want to swing the machine the other way? You can still get to five sides of the part by only swinging in the positive direction.

I would agree with ktmktmman. Contact the machine tool builder and see if what you want to do is possible.
