Rhinocam 5 Axis simulation for custom machine

I'm currently trying to design a 5 axis head-head system for my current 3 axis system. I see in rhinocam where I can edit an existing post processor, and I see where I can put the offsets for the rotational axis of the head in the machine setup. What I am still left wondering is how can I simulate a custom machine just to make sure there are no collisions. And I'm not sure if editing the post-processor would detect the geometry of the machine to do collision avoidance. I've seen this video:

5axis Simultaneous with machine tool simulation - YouTube

But don't see where you would actually create this mockup of the machine. Does that make sense?

Question Re: Rhinocam 5 Axis simulation for custom machine

    Hi

    To the OP.

I am also trying to do the same thing you described above.

Did you get it figured out ?

    That's pretty impressive, subbed!

Have you asked Mecsoft tech support about this? They don't charge extra for answering questions; it's part of the package you bought.

Have asked them, in process of reviewing which software package to buy. They should answer in the next few days.

Re: Rhinocam 5 Axis simulation for custom machine

OK , so I got my reply.

In a nutshell this is the deal with RhinoCAM and/or Visual MILL - for 5 axis continuous motion.

ONLY the Tooltip , Tool Shaft and Tool holder can be checked for collisions, but even then not 100%, they have had some issues.

NO Machine tool check for collisions or avoidance of collisions. So it is possible to animate the Machine tool in the machining simulations but it has no use as it is not checked for interference and collisions.

You will have to use VariCUT or NCSimul for actual machine collision checking.

or madcam they have the collision sorted
we bought rhinocam premium 25k and its a paper weight
we use ncgcam its full automatic excludes zones takes minutes to write code for 5 axis machine, way better way cheaper way easier
    thats on a thermwood model90 10ft 10ft 4ft z and a doughty drive 5 axis
just putting my 2 bob worth in
