Our normal lathe guys are out sick or on vacation. I am trying to set something up on the machine and the chuck was only partially removed by one of the guys that left. So, what we have now is just the draw tube left to remove.
My problem is that it won't budge. Years ago I ran the machine for some time and I don't remember doing anything but unscrewing the draw tube.
Is there a set screw or a clamp or something I'm missing? Is it a left hand or right hand thread? I'm afraid to give it a good whack at least until I know what hand thread it is.

Never mind. We go it. It is a right hand thread and it just needed a good whack with a tool we made that fit well.

A bit of never seize on threads will help. Copperkote or what ever you have around, in a pinch grease is better then nothing.
