    belt drive conversion

I've seen videos on youtube showing the IH mill running 6k or 9k rpm, Im primarily cutting wood with mine and would like to get faster spindle speeds.

Where can one get the belt-drive conversion for the IH mill?
Does the manufacturer have a website or contact number?

    thanks for any advice

Most everyone made their own but I believe Dave "Arizonavideo" makes a kit, PM him.

I cleared out the mail box and I am making the belt drives.

The 9000 RPM video was just a high speed test, I don't think it is something you would want to do for a long time. It was a bit spooky just standing next to the mill thinking what might happen if the whole thing came loose.

6k all day long looks OK.

    Thanks
    Dave

I think the OP was talking about a video I did testing the top speed of one of the belt drives that I made. I really don't think the spindles should run at 9000 RPM because they do make a fair amount of vibration at that speed and if something broke loose at that speed it really could be bad.

The video is here. 9000 RPM Test - YouTube

Got sidetracked on another project and finished the assembly yesterday. It all fits nicely, but I've never taken apart an RF-45 head before, so it took me the better part of a day to finish. I'm also swapping out the motor to a metric size and Dave was kind enough to make a metric sized fitting. It all looks and feels good, but I need to build the 1ph->3ph converter and VFD before I can test it at speed.

    Tony:
I received your PM about wanting more info about the a belt drives but it says you don't take incoming messages so you will need to change that or give me a different email so I can contact you.

    Thanks

Yes, but I'm back logged right now. It must be spring time and everyone is coming out of the deep freeze all at one.

    It goes like this,

I need 6 motor mounts by Tuesday, how about a CNC coil winding machine, Perhaps 10 sway bar mounts, Nice G0704 kit you have there I want one.

I need a mount for my solar oven...

I say 30 to 60 days before I get to a drive for you. I have a few in front of you first.

I will say I have one of these from dave. good unit. worth the wait. also you can save quite a bit of weight by pulling the gearset and associated stuff. I also locked my spindle up and removed the handle and stuff on the right side, again saving more weight.

Are those zip ties holding the drill press to the table?

Ha, yes, they are. When I went to bolt the drill press to the table I discovered I had the wrong length bolts. I put zip ties on it as a better-than-nothing safety until I went to the hardware store for more bolts.
