Question "Breakout board & motor controllers" v "Stepper motor driver controller board"

Hi all, I'm new to all this and when I look around for the electronic side of CNC router world I see two options.

The breakout board route looks more complicated but I'm guessing the ease at which you can replace parts is an advantage.
The all in one driver controller board looks good to me but does it become a throw away solution if a controller burns out or some other disaster. If parts burning out aren't a problem then please let me know?

I have no electronic knowledge and I'm looking for the safe option.

Also if anyone can recommend a UK supplier with good after care I'd appreciate that.

    Regards

    Pete

It is not one or the other?
You can get away without a BOB but you need a servo/stepper controller of some kind if going the Mach P.P. route.
There is outboard controllers that give you a little more flexibility such as Dynomotion, seeing as you posted in the Brain forum, which I believe is pretty much 'Brain Dead' now?
