    parallel port settings/output signals

Both my parrallel LPT 1 settings on my PC and my laptop are port 378. I put this in to run the Xylotex steptest.exe and nothing happened. So i tried port 3BC and it all works fine. But thats not what my computers ports are set for! All the stepper motors ran for each axis, they ran a little poorly for 1ghz machine and 1/8 stepping, But im going to use a 2ghz machine on it soon.

What could be the problem with the ports? My device manager says 0378, but mach3 errors also, but it too will run with port 3bc selected, just the motors won't run. Bios settings? My bios parallel port setting is set for ECP, and auto.

All the motors are wired correctly.

What output signals should I have enabled and the pins selected in the mach3 for the xylotex board? Right now everything is disabled in the output settings tab. Nothing runs! lol I'm a total noobie!

Do you have 2 parallel ports?

Step test will not run motors smoothly, I don't think. It's just a simple test.

As for setting up Mach3, you should watch the setup video at www.machsupport.com

I wish I had an answer, I think I have a similar situation. I have allways seen LPT1 addressed at 0378, but Mach3 doesent seem to be driving it. Where did 3bc come from? Now I'm really confused.

The first Mach3 video shows how to get the correct port address. The second one shows how to set up your pins correctly.

ITS ALIVE!!! Well, I went into the bios and changed to Enabled from auto, and changed to the EPP port setting for the parrallel port. It all works now!
0378 and IRQ7. So ECP is no good, Halfnutz try EPP.

    THanks guys! trial and error!!!

One last question how to change the microstepping. I looked over the PDF manual and everything it has the 8 pin table on the PDF; axS1, axS2 and I only see MS1 and MS2 on the board, then there are jumpers on each ENA#. There is also a 5 pin port at the bottom???

Allready went through that. Ive tried it set all different settings. Mach3 is definately not driving the port though, for some crazy reason. It works fine with TurboCNC. This is starting to remind me of dating, for some reason I get all the wierd ones.....

Got it... I forgot to set the port number for the motor outputs. How stupid, oh well, its working fine now.
