Exclamation NEWBIE needs help on Routers, VMC and injection mold making

I need to buy a CNC machine for my company but I am not sure what the difference between a CNC router and a CNC mill or VMC is? I hear one is for woodworking and the other for high precision metal working but I am not sure. Is there a HYBRID that is in between? 80% of what we will mill is MDF for vacuum forming and a router would be fine but I want to have the ability to make simple injection molds once in a while (3-axis is sufficient) . We have the DELCAM software. Which suppliers should I check on? What are the price points? I hear routers cost around 30k and VMCs start at 80k and up. Is there a router that would let me mill steel for an injection mold? Any help is appreciated.

Routers will NOT cut steel. So, if you need to cut steel, a router most likely will not work for you. On the other hand, a metal mill is probably not the most efficient way to cut MDF.
