    Question [AU] Joe's 2006 Model

    Hi All,

Just chasing some advice on motors and lead screws for a Budget 2006 Build.

Was planning on using Ebay Lead screws for all three Axis,

All prices are AUD and do not include postage, I would prefer to get most parts from the same supplier in AUS to minimise cost.

    Lead Screw

    X - 16x4x1400 - $34 - TRPZ16X4 1400mm Trapezoidal Screw Acme Lead CNC Router Motion Thread NUT Machine | eBay

    Y - 12x3x800 - $19 - TRPZ12X3 800mm Trapezoidal Screw Acme Lead CNC Router Motion 3D Printer Machine | eBay

    Z - 12x3x400 - $11 - TRPZ12X3 400mm Trapezoidal Screw Acme Lead CNC Router Motion 3D Printer Machine | eBay

    Matching Nuts

    X - 16x4 - $12.5 - 16 X 4 Round Trapezoidal Bronze NUT Acme Screw Lead CNC Router Motion Machine | eBay

    Y/Z - 12x3 - $10.5 - 12 X 3 Round Trapezoidal Bronze NUT Acme Screw Lead CNC Router Motion 3D Printer | eBay

    Couplers

    X - 6.35x16 Fixed - $10 - 6 35 X16MM Rigid Coupler Trapezoidal Acme Coupling Stepper Motor CNC Router KIT | eBay

    Y/Z - 6.35x12.7 Flexible - $19.5 - 6 35 X12 7 Flexible Coupler Ballscrew Coupling Stepper Motor CNC Router KIT | eBay

Steppers, Driver and PSU seem to be significantly cheaper in a package deal here

    Gecko G540 + 3x 269 Ozin Steppers + PSU + extras - $480 - G540 Stepper Controller Package (inc 3 x 269 oz.in Motors) [CC-03] - AU$480.00 : Homann Designs!, The preferred CNC Component Supplier

    Gecko G540 + 3x 387 Ozin Steppers + PSU + extras - $508 - G540 Stepper Controller Package (inc 3 x 387 oz.in Motors) [CC-06] - AU$508.00 : Homann Designs!, The preferred CNC Component Supplier

    LPT Cable - 3M - $19.80 - 3 metre DB25 Male to DB25 Male printer port cable [CB-14] - AU$19.80 : Homann Designs!, The preferred CNC Component Supplier

Am I forgetting anything? Router im planning on using is a Ryobi 350W Trim router - RYOBI Australia: 350W Trimmer / Router (EVT350RG)

Any thoughts on which steppers I should go? Plan on mainly cutting MDF/Chipboard/Ply with the occasional carving into light woods(pine)

I have nearly finished converting plans to use metric MDF sizes, If i can get the parts ordered now hopefully I can assemble over the Christmas break

    Attachment 207156

    Cheers,
    Nathan

good luck with the build Nathan,
I built a metric scaled down Joes several years ago (build log in the Aust club house) and it is still serving me well.
Your choice of parts is very similar to what I used so they should be fine.

look forward to seeing the build progress
