Drive constantly "Recovering from follow error or from disabled state"

Really as per the title, I have some motors hooked up to a VSD-E in dual DC mode, however I'm having trouble with them because the drive is constantly entering fault mode and then slowly moves to position. I have set the following error at a generous 8096 counts, which should equal a full turn of the shaft (2048 cpr encoder with quadrature decoding). The motors seem to be well tuned with maximum encoder counts in the 20-30 range when using DC tool.
The current given to the motors also seems to be a bit low, is it necessary to setup drive in GDtool before using DCtool? I've set it to the highest values I can in DC tool but I don't think it's using them.

It sounds like there may be a parameter not initialized. I would run GDTOOL first.
