    Craftex Mini lathe Stalling

Hi guys, I hope someone can offer me some advice.
Does anyone know how to adjust these 3 screws to get the lathe to have more power at low speed so it doesn't keep stalling? I have tried turning them C.W. and C.C.W. 1-2 turns and it doesn't seem to have any effect. My first lathe was faulty and would take a tremendous load without stalling, so much so that it burned out the motor, so I believe it is possible to get at least some extra torque at low speed by adjusting these three screws, I just don't know which one(s), which way and how much.
Also, the lathe takes a short period of time to get up to speed in high gear, it didn't do that before. I have had the lathe for about 4 years.
Thank you for taking the time to read this.

    Colin:

Don't bother. About a decade ago I replaced the mini-lathe drive with this one from McMaster: McMaster-Carr

$143, US made excellence and zero issues. I had gone through several of the OEM drives at that point, they're simply under-engineered.

There's a detailed setup guide that comes with the McMaster drive (it's made by Leeson - in Grafton WI) for how to set the pots - there are six of them for min speed, max speed, accel, decel, torque, and regulation (IR comp).

Works like a dream. Don't worry that it's "non-reversing", use a DPDT switch after the drive to switch the armature polarity on the motor (same as with the OEM drive).

    Hope this helps.

Thanks Dave, for answering my post--I might give that a try.
