I don't switch to manual very often but I've never had a problem.
I had a quick straight line to cut last night but couldn't get the spindle to turn on. I rebooted everything twice last night and started up again this morning.

I'm I missing something? Something in Mach 3 that needs set?

Maybe a loose wire on the manual/off/auto spindle switch?

Power off the mill and unplug it and maybe check the switch to see if it went to switch heaven? Maybe the switch broke.

You should be able to use a multimeter to check if the switch is working.

F5 on the keyboard toggles the spindle on and off. I don't even have a manual switch any more so I always use F5 for "manual" spindle control.

[ctrl-c] toggles the coolant pump, by the way.

The spindle should start in manual without the computer even being turned on, let alone Mach3 running. As suggested get a multimeter and start checking.

When I want to do manual work, I'll turn the spindle on in MDI then I can get the RPM I want.

Thanks for the replys. I got really busy with Christmas orders. The machine is running in auto mode and I'm not going to rock the boat before Christmas. I'll play with your suggestions as soon as I'm caught up and have some time.
