    6040 bed

I'm sure I'm not the only one with an uneven bed. Right now I have a piece of wood bolted down, which I went over and "faced" with an endmill. Has anyone come up with any other solutions? It's kinda hard to bolt things down sometimes.

Also, everyone talks about spindle speed in rpm, is there a way to make the vfd display the RPMs?

Turn them upside down and using longer cap screws will fix most of the uneven surfaces problem, plus giving you more slot to clamp your jobs.

Keep pressing the 'Next' button (right below the JOG button) until you see Power, For and ROTT LED lit up, that will display R.P.M

The plates are mostly curled up at the edges.by turning them down, the high spots are now in the middle of the plates. The mounting bolts will pull the down flat

    Re: 6040 bed

Been a while, I ended up just using mdf and surfacing it with a large bit every so often. Works great for plastics and wood but when doing aluminum it sucks because you can't use coolant(I have a mister setup). Has anyone replaced the bed completely? I'm wondering if anyone sells predrilled/threaded steel plate. I think it'd be a good solid surface vs the uneven t sloted bed the 6040 comes with. Open to ideas and opinions.

    I'm considering a cast aluminium T-nut plate for my 3040 , Gussaluminium T-Nutenplatten
Not cheap but it's very flat, makes the frame a lot stiffer and doesn't resonate as bad as the current bed.

That looks pretty nice -- I couldn't get the site to give me a shipping cost to Australia though :-(
