Question Sacrificial table: MDF 18mm vs Hardwood 3.2mm vs stainless steel 3mm.

    Looking for best sacrificial table.

Milling aluminium (6082T6), stainless steel (316) and some wood.

Is MDF appropriate for milling steel and aluminium ??? (bottom table is T-table)

Now I wonder how will I fix clamping as I used t-nuts and it worked really well, thing is that if I will add some sacrificial table I will use ability to use t-nuts...

What is your way to use sacrificial table and what clamping are you using ?

I would hardly call stainless steel sacrificial material... Plus the thickness you specify for the hardwood and stainless might be difficult to keep flat. MDF is great but I don't know how well it would last when sparks fly from the stainless, and if you use coolant the MDF will swell and expand. You might want to consider getting a sheet of paper-based phenolic for your spoilboard...

I start thinking about using some pre-cut MDF boards (as my CNC mostly is milling 10-12 models, and only sometimes I'm cutting something for myself).

Given that the stainless steel is very tough to machine methinks a proper machine vise with flood coolant is the answer. Now, the aluminum could be milled dry or with minimal cooling and clamping to a table will work if thick enough.
