Slave Axis and offset home switches

    Hi all,

I set up my router with two stepper motors on the X axis. I set up separate home switches so that mach3 would square up the gantry.

    Everything works perfectly so far.

Now I wanted to correct the last 1mm (over 1m) by setting Home Off. to 1mm on the slaved "A" axis. I expected the gantry would move to one off the switches triggered, then backoff by the Home Off. length. Then the other would do the same.

However it looks like the "A" axis Home Off. is ignored if the axis is slaved.

Is there anyway to adjust the squareness electronically, or must it be done mechanically?

If I'm reading right you want to have the motors move different amounts away from the switches. Im not sure how you would do that in software. Can you not just move one of the switch dogs 1mm or is that not a good solution in your case?

    Hi bhurts,
Yes I could just move the switch dog but my machine isn't set up to make it easy to make fine adjustments.

This is something that would be very easy to do in software, and I thought it was. However, I am not sure if I misunderstood how mach3 does this or if I did something wrong.

Home Offset doesn't actually move the axis. It sets the home position to the offset amount. However, when using a slaved axis, both axis use the same position, so you can't set the home position to different values.

What you would need to do is unslave the axis after homing, and then home each side separately. Unfortunately, I don't see any way to unslave them with Mach3's macros.

I believe that your only option is to adjust the switch position.
