    Converting 18i-MB to 18i-TB ?

    Hi,

I've got two 18i-MB and need a controller for a lathe.
Is there anyone with an idea how to convert a 18i-MB to a 18i-TB

    Thanks
    Uli

the main difference is the system software.
You need to install the lathe version. On 18i it will be in flash ROM.
then a few parameters need to be changed.
you may be able to get it to work simply by removing the Y axis with a parameter

    Thanks, that's what I expected.
Any idea of what this could cost?

If you have an earlier motherboard version, then it is fairly simple and costs nothing, as long as you have the lathe software. The later motherboards required a program from Fanuc to enable options, and may require Fanuc to come in. Let us know what happens.

This is for sure the point. I've got the 18i-MB5 and it has the milling software. I doubt having the lathe software somewhere hidden in the system....
It's really difficult to get answers from Fanuc Germany if you do not have a professional account there. And you can't get it without a business tax (VAT) number.

You can copy the lathe software from a friend's machine. I may be able to get it, but I have never done it on a iB series- only earlier controls.
What are your motherboard part #s?
