ok , i would really appreciate some help , i need 18k resistors so i bought a variety pack , now i ve got myself into somewhat of a mess because i dont quite get how the colour coding works ,i ve got about a 100 resistors in a dish and i know the two i need are in there somewhere ,,
can anyone tell me the colours i need for an 18k resistor , ive got some documentation so i ll go back to that ,but any pointers will be greatly appreciated

First two color bands are numbers, the third band is the number of zeros, forth band is the tolerance.

Black = 0, or no zeros
Brown = 1, or 1 zero
Red = 2, or 2 zeros
Orange = 3, or 3 zeros
Yellow = 4, or 4 zeros
Green = 5, or 5 zeros
Blue = 6, or 6 zeros
Violet = 7
Grey = 8
White = 9

Silver = 10% tolerance (4th band)
Gold = 5% tolerance (4th band)
No 4th band is 20% tolerance.

Example: A 47K 5% resistor is YELLOW, VIOLET, ORANGE and GOLD

Standard 10% values are:
1.0, 1.2, 1.5, 1.8, 2.2, 2.7, 3.3, 3.9, 4.7, 5.6, 6.8, and 8.2
Standard 5% values are all 10% values plus:
1.1, 1.3, 1.6, 2.0, 2.4, 3.0, 3.6, 4.3, 5.1, 6.2, 7.5 and 9.1

POP QUIZ:
(1) What are the color bands for a 680K 5% resistor?
(2) What are the color bands for a 12 Ohm 10% resistor?
(3) What are the color bands for a standard 5,000 Ohm resistor? (trick question)
(4) You need a 3,184 Ohm resistor. Color bands for the closest 10% part?
(5) For (4), closest 5% part color bands?
