Macro capability on old MV-40 with Fanuc 10M controller

I have a late 1980's MV-40 with a Fanuc 10M controller and don't seem to be able to run a program that contains variables. The following alarm message is displayed: "PS012 INVALID BREAK POINT OF WORDS". It may be that the controller does not have macro capability as my CNC lathe does?? Does anyone know if Custom Macro-B was an option for the 10M controller? I have a new job to run on the mill and a program with variables would be very helpful. Thanks in advance for any help that may be offered.
