    Remote offset transfer

We have a customer that has several VMC-4020
machines in an auto-loaded cell on which they would like to remotely control
tool offset values. The machines are equipped with the MP CNC controls.

Our intent is to use our PCEZ Remote System(http://www.ovationengineering.com/PCEZRemote.htm)
to allow the user to change offsets on any of the machines from a PC located
    at the manual gage station.

Anyone know if the MP control has the capability (either as standard or
with purchased options) to accept external offset data? Does the control
support some type of macro I/O & custom macro B, similar to a Fanuc control?

Yeah, I've called the dealer and left a message, but I'm researching all avenues.

    Paul--
Look in the Fadal User's Manual in Section 18 entitled "Macros". In there you will find a list of I/O macro arrays that may suit your purpose.

    Thanks!

    I appreciate your suggestion.

I've downloaded the manual and it states that user inputs 1-6 are on J2 17 thru 22 of the 1040-2A card and the outputs (1 thru 3) are on J2 - 6 thru 8.

Can you tell me is this card is standard, or willl the customer need to purchase it?

The 1040 card is the standard mill interface.

    Gee, thanks for asking Bob!

Primarily, we are involved in the integration of post process electronic gaging for automatic statistical process control. Our EZ-Comp System accepts RS-232 data from pretty much any gage, allows the user to set a size window that they would like to maintain for each measured feature, and when the size exceeds the window (based upon either a single piece measurement, or a couple of diff. statistical algorithms - user's choice), an offset value is calculated for the appropriate tool and transferred into the tool wear offset table automatically.

We are also involved in remote offset systems, touch probes / lasers, tool monitoring, and electrical engineering for Fanuc controls. We've recently incorporated our EZ-Comp technology into PC software that allows for direct connection of gaging to PC based CNC's for the same type of functionality.

Of course, there are lots more details on our web site at - http://www.ovationengineering.com

Most of our customers are OEM gage and machine tool companies that incorporate our systems into their "turnkeys".
