For $5 more, you get the CNC4PC which seems to be a much better deal.

    Hi Joe,

There is a guy on ebay (hubbard CNC) who has a similar non-opto breakout board for $10 (if I remember right). He also has the opto BOB for $25 complete with contacts for estop and limit switches.

Phil has a very simple non-opto BOB on his site too.

The opto isolation seems to be most important (if I understand this correctly) if the user has screwed up his grounding. Phil once told me that, as long as the grounding is done properly and correctly, then it is not necessary to go with an opto BOB. But since more than half of the people out there screw up their ground plane then it is safest to go opto.

Asking a tangential question: do I need a BOB with the gecko 202's that I am ordering this weekend?

    Steven
