    8 wire hookup

    I am having dificulty getting a motor to move. It is an 8 wire motor and it is going to gecko drives. here are the hookups i have made
    blue and red---red
    yellow and green---yellow

    brown and black---blue
    orange and white---white

    then the red and yellow wires go to phase A and B on the gecko, and the blue and white go to phase C and D.

    am i wiring it wrong? my 4 wire motor is moving using the same driver...but no luck with the 8 wire.

    We are missing a LOT of information such as:

    1) which wire colors make up a single coil (There should be 4 coils)

    2)Do the motors have a namebrand and/or part number where one might determine what motor you have?

    3) Do the motors have any nameplates or data.

    4) How do you wish to wire it; Bi-polar Series or Bi-polar Parallel?

    Without some kind of solid info, everything is a guess since there are about 64 possible combinations, with 63 of them being wrong.

    Your only option, without specs, is a DVM. Find the four motor windings by finding continuity between four sets. There should only be the same value of low impedance or low resistance between the two wires that make up one half of each winding. Of these four circuits there should be a center point ( zero resistance ) of two that is the center tap of each of the two windings the motor is made of. At least with these established you can start. Otherwise your in the dark and dont stand a chance, unless someone can find a similar wiring diagram for the same manufacturer, although at this point we dont even know what make the motor is.

    the motor is made by keling technology inc.
    the model number is kl23hm276-30-8b

    there are 8 wires, as mentioned above.

    To wire Bi-Polar Series:

    Blue = A
    Connect Red and Yellow
    Green = B

    Brown is C
    connect Black to Orange
    White is D

    conncet Red to Green = B

    connect Brown to Orange = C
    Connect Black to White = D

    how do they perform

    I'm looking at the exact same motors (from the same supplier) for my mini lathe. Just wondering how they perform (adequate torque etc) before I buy.
