    Stepper motor acting weird. Help!

I have a PacSci Nema 23 powermax II stepper motor. I was working, now it jitters and acts stalled at low speeds when starting to spin. Once up to speed it seems to run OK but has no torque. The motor also appears to want to run in either direction no mater what the input is telling it. Tried switching drivers and that doesn't appear to be the problem. Got continuity through the coils. Tried driving wth 20v and 48V 1 amp and 2 amp- same result with different drivers. Using Geckos and RMS for drivers. Could the motor be bad?

    Thanks

What software are you running it with? could be noise on the direction line. Not likely a bad motor, I wouldn't think.

Running a motion control program using Kuper controls- film industry package. I don't think it is the drivers or the software because the other 5 motors all run fine and when I switch the motor to the other drivers it has the same problem. If I put a different motor on the bad stepper's driver it runs fine.

that does sound like the motor then. Are you changing the wires with the motor?

Haven't changed the wiring. Checked the contacts- they seem to be good. Can't figure it out- not much to go bad in a motor. Didn't get it hot, barely warm.

    Directly coupled? Excuse my ignorance.
