MORI SEIKI SL-25B TURRET INDEXING PROBLEM FANUC OT

    Dear All,

we recently had to replace our spindle optical cable due to the old one being chewed up by a rogue rat. After replacing the cable we lost all the parameters on the machine. we had a backup so we restored the system.

Now all the axis are running fine(homing etc), spindle run fine (chuck clamp de-clamp ok).

the turret clamp light keeps blinking and an error EX 344 Turret param. must be 8.10.12 appears on screen.

we manually moved the turret back to tool no 1 position . It clamps de-clamps fine . we also check the ladder it shows up high low there two.

Does any body know which are the d parameters I should be playing with to get this machining running.

also if there is any turret homing procedure.

Please note we do not have any machine builder manuals or electric diagrams for the machine.

    thanks in advance.

    Rohan

You don't have the correct PMC parameters loaded. Those include keep relays, timers, counters, and D data. The machine does not know what turret is on the machine without them, also lube cycle, mcode time etc. No zero return procedures for the old hydraulic turrets.

    Thanks for your reply.

when we had taken the back up of this machine 2 files were generated one for parameters and another one for diagnostic parameters named dgn. the dgn file starts from p no 300 to 549 parameter.

We have loaded these parameters on the control but the machine does not run.

Is there separate files generated for keep relays, counters timers etc..?

if we don't have these then is there any other alternative.?

we are in a fix, is it possible to procure these values from some one.

Depends on what vintage 0t on that machine. The electrical binder that came with the machine will have the data backup you need. Its generally left inside the electrical enclosure in the document holder.

    Problem Solved !!!

Turns out you were right, the control was not accepting many of the parameters in diagnostics due the decimal mode being turned on in the main parameters.

Once we turned the 19.7 parameter from 1 to 0 many lines mainly the timers and keep relay codes were in binary mode.

then we could upload almost all the diagnostic parameters and the machine was back in business.

We have quite a few lathes but this old Mori is robust and great at machining hard material. so if was a great relief to get the machining running again.
