    Slowing down turret rotation

When I load a bunch of live tools in the LB-4000, I get to thinking that I have way to much mass trying to rotate at such speed when I need to index to the next tool in auto mode, and the turret kind of bobbles a little bit when it gets into position. I've looked everywhere I can think, but can't seem to find anything to make it slow down. I don't normally run into parts where a few seconds of cycle time makes any difference at all, if it could just run at the speed it does when manually indexing it would give me some piece of mind.

    Any ideas?

must be a parameter, because the turret is equipped with electrical servo transmission.

I did that parameter change on the same machine, I'll check that Monday and will tell you how if anybody as an answer.

I'd greatly appreciate it, I've looked through the parameter pages and could not find anything that intuitively suggested it was possible to change.

It should be fine to index a fully loaded turret at full speed. That being said, it is possible to adjust speed of index by % Of full speed in your parameters. I think it's in your axis parameters If I remember right. It can also be adjusted in your program by a system variable. I'll have to look it up at work tomorrow and get back to you.

    Best regards,

The System variable you need is VTBOR=40 to set the B-turret to 40% of normal. VTAOR should work for the A turret.

You can see or set the parameter in your machine user parameters , Turret/Door, Turret index override.

    Pic attached.

On my LB4000 to get there, it's on parameter page,

    --display change

    --select: 33 MC USER PARA(TURRET/DOOR)

Put your % at "TURRET INDEX OVERRIDE A-SIDE

Mine is at 50% with heavy Tools and it is smooth smooth...

As a small adder, there is a rated weight capacity for your turret.
I'm not sure where it's listed, but it may be in the machines operation and maint manual. Any more weight than that and you should slow down your turret to accommodate.
If you can't find it there, the distributor should be able to help.

hy, a bit late, i know i just saw this thread after i posted something similar

lb4000 is heavier, and i have it's little brother, the 3000 i focused on same issue; here :

... 1) less rotation speed on the turret, as descibred in this thread
... 2) "heavy tool" setting from parameters page check availability of this option for your control
... 3) selecting rotation sense / direction for the posts that deliver greater shocks when indexing
...... this is good when machining more parts
...... pls see last post in here : http://www.cnczone.com/forums/okuma/...olholders.html
... 4) a nice one for "heavy tools" would be less hidra pressure during coupling, and increased after that; however, not possible on default cnc

    (1) decreases shoks a lot, but something still remains

during a setup, i was not satisfied with the result, even after (2)

    (3) almost eliminated shocks all the best
