Is there a downside to reducing motor current to reduce heating? My situation is that I need the holding torque when wood routing of course, but the majority of my table use is for the plasma cutter. I know that the motor heat is normal, but would expect longer life if there run cooler in the long run. As plasma cutting is 95% of my table use, I'm considering reducing the current settings on the step controllers (dip switches) for most of the time, using just enough amps to move tool head around. Is there a down side to this idea?
