Hitachi seiki vk 55 speed up controler?

I am wondering if anyone can help me.
    I have a vk 55 with a Micon 16 - 11 controller.
problem is i am starting to do more 3d surfacing work and the old controller will not keep up with the speeds that i would like.
by chance is there any parameters that i can change for faster look ahead? or play with acell/ decell or with the old machines we just have to deal with it.
i use solid cam and new to the i machining which generates lots of little point to point code, this is were i am having to slow the machine down quite a bit to stop it shunting.
    Any advise would be apriciated.
    Cheers
