Q tool presetter problem PUMA 240L

    Hi every body.
We have a problem with our PUMA 240L machine's quick tool presetter as flow:
we do all according to its user manual. when tool touches the probe, the red lamp in probe center will be ON but the axis movement will not stop.
thank you for any ideas and helps.

Has the Q-Setter worked prior to this?

    Hi.
    thanks for your attention.
yes, it has worked before, but with error in X direction ( i think it just needed calibration) but they tried to repair it ... and now this is it's situation !!! ( i don't know they tried on controller or any thing else) .
by the way this machine had a crash on it's turret and has repaired.
    thank you very much.

It sounds like maybe the wiring for the X+, X- may be wrong. I've seen that happen before. Does Z-axis work OK?

X and Z work in all modes.
but the problem is with Q-Setter.
none of them wont stop when touch the probe.
older operators in our company told me : it had worked before, but the X tool-offset was not accurately. ( calibration needed )
    Thanks for your attention.

    1. Does the display change to the geometry offset page when the q-setter is lowered into position?
    2. Is the Keep Relay that selects whether the q-setter is used "ON" (There should be a blue book in the electrical panel listing all of the keep relays)?
    3. Have you checked the diagnostic inputs from the 4 pads (the electrical diagram I have list X4.2 - X4.5... your machine may be different)?

    1. yes it doe's. the display change to offset page with the cursor on the active tool. (parameter 5005.#5 is 1)
    2. yes. keep relay K7.5 is 1 ,it means Q-setter is attached to the machine. and also K6.3 is 0 that it means manual type of Q-setter is not attached to the machine. i had changed this one(K6.3) to 0 once, but there was no difference with before.
    3. how can i check the diagnostic input from the 4 pad.
    thanks for your attention.

Pumas are prone to coolant contamination in the area where the Q switch attaches to the arm. Sometimes the wire breaks where the arm attaches to the machine, since that is where it bends the most. Checking the X diagnostics is a good idea. You'll need to find out which X input on the diagnostics is assigned to each switch from the electrical or ladder documentation.

    Hi.
    i checked out the ladder and electrical manual. mine either. X4.2 for +MT1.M , x4.3 for -MT1.M , X4.4 for +MT2.M , and X4.5 for -MT2.M.
but now i don't know how to check it on the machine. how can i access on diagnostics ?
    Thanks for attentions.
    Regards.

Here's a picture of the screen you want. Press this button until the Diagnostics screen appears. Then, look for the X0004 line.
    Good luck,

    thanks for your kindly guidance.
    i could find it.
    now i think i must touch the probe in X+ , X- , Z+ and Z- . and check the changes in X4 line.
    is it right?

when the tool tip touch the probe, none of x4.2 - x4.5 changes. all of them remain zero.
but some other parameter, that i checked, in the status of pmc parameter change as they should.
so is the problem in wiring of Q-setter?
    what we have to do?
    Regards.

It is unlikely that all four switches failed together. I would have someone check the wiring at the joint where it flexes the most, where the arm attaches to the machine. That is a common place for the wires to break.

    Hi.
first I have to correct my previus post.
only the X+ change on PMC status. but none of the others.
on the interface board there are 4 LED that any one of them shows a signal received from the probe.
3 of the turn on when touch , but 1 of them that is X- will not turn on.
    here is the interface board.
i gave it to our electrical department for investigations.

    PUMA 240L turret backlash

    I appreciate all responses.
the q-setter interface board is under repair.
but now we have another problem with the turret.
After tool change the turret turn about 5deg backward. and the backward turn is different for each station. this make it impossible to use Q-setter in the X direction.
    Regards.
