    mori seiki (G83 problems)

Our SL will not peck drill properly. For example, G98 G83 R.1 Z-1.5 Q.2 Fxx, Instead of feeding .2 and retracting, it feeds .2 then another .2 and another .2 and so on until the finale Z is reached without retracting at all. I think its a parameter thats not set correctly but... No manual. Also its an MSC-516 control. Any help would be greatly appreaciated. Thanks, AJL.

Ok even tho our machines are Okuma controls... the G83 on these can take either a Q command to peck the hole to depth, like a G73 cycle can or it can use a I and J value, where the I value is the infeed amount per peck and the J value is the total depth to drill before retracting to the reference point.
Have you tried anything like this?
    Cheers
    Brian.

No i think it is a parameter, the way you have it wrote is right. It acts like the G73 cycle you may need to call Mori service dept.
