Benjamin,
what the control on this? What are you trying to do when you get this alarm>

Hello John
We are using seicos l multi, trying to home c axis results in errors as previous thread explains. Starting spindle without homing c axis results in s1 servo error, after the spindle turning at about 20 revs for a minute or so. Any ideas??

Benjamin,
take a look at the actual spindle drive when you get the alarm on the control. Did you use the c-axis previously without error? If you spin the spindle at say 10rpm does the control accurately reflect this, and if you increase it 50% does it reflect this as well?

We are unable to home the c axis as a result the spindle will not follow any speed commands it will only travel at the permitted homing speed of 20 revs. There are no discernible alarms on the spindle drive. It is a yaskawa drive and spindle assembly there is only a 2 digit display which seems to be ok.

Ben,
these machines have a optical encoder mounted on the rear of the spindle drive that reads from a magnetic strip mounted on a disc as far as I remember. This reads the position on the spindle drive for orientation. Do you have the little reader for these spindle drives, JVOP-100? This will tell you if the encoder is reading the pulses properly. It must go from 0 - 4096 with a full revolution, or 2048 depending on the control. I had this same exact issue on a 20RIII with the Seicos L
