Need help with an old ram EDM.

    Hello and Good Morning!!!!

I picked up an old EDM for small projects.

Cleaned the tanks. Added Filters, new fluid and scales.
Power it up, everything is functioning in manual.
In AUTO, push START, the ram retracts all the way up.

And starts hunting down from the top position.

    EDM Technology, NY, 1990.
    Tank says OMEGA 405b

Any info or help would be greatly appreciated.
The guys at Arrow, sent me to EDM-ZAP & EDM Network, I'm just waiting for replies from the last 2.

Link below to lots of Pics of machine & control boards.

    It is alive!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I never powered the machine up before doing all the work.

Larry from the EDMnetwork, had me do some basic meter checks.
When the guys mounted the 3R-Chuck, the left the insulator block out.

15-minutes and a piece of delrin, had it cooking away.

    Works perfect!

Re: Need help with an old ram EDM.

Basic iron looks virtually identical to my Araton sinker.
It has worked fine for years despite having to work with low amperage through a phase converter.
Recently moved it to a new shop with carefully installed 30A 3Ph. power so that it should now run at full capacity.

Everything seems to work fine on manual control, ram up and down, start, stop, etc., , except that no matter what setting I use the ram only retracts without burning.
I can set the zero and get a beep, but as soon as I press start the ram ascends.
Tried it exactly as before, moved legs on the power side, nothing seems to have any effect.

Would love to get my hands on a tech manual, or at least some suggestions on what may have happened/come loose?
