new to linux- where exactly is LINUX CNC located in the computer?

I just downloaded , md5sum, burned ISO and booted the cd in my computer per the instructions on the LINUX CNC web site. I immediately updated to the latest version as described in the instructions.( which took about 6 hours) Ubuntu seems to work OK.

I looked through the files and applications but I can't find anything that looks like CNC. I found the manuals but I don't see anything that looks even remotely like

sample configurations or setup wizards as pictured in the manuals .

    I must be missing something!

I believe that I have found the problem . I inadvertently updated to 12.04lts.

    What do I do now?

Usually - A traditional upgrade will break LinuxCNC because of the real time kernel, for one thing. I would reinstall the LinuxCNC 10.04 version. I'm not in front of my LinuxCNC, but in the upper, left-hand corner of the desktop should be the applications icon. Clicking on that and, possibly, the second one down should be labeled "CNC". There is where you can start LinuxCNC, find manuals, stepconf, etc.

You need to run linuxconf before you can do anything with the machine though. Spend time reading through the manuals, it will save you a million questions and time :-)
